It will force you to restart so do it. Once done, restart once again and open the bios before XP loads. Once the Installation starts, select the 25gb set aside for the dual boot and make it a partition. Install Vista like normal. Last edited by Moline; August 22nd, at PM. Reason: Added in some info. BUT, in an effort to help, seems like a remember there are programs that can take a snapshot of all the files on your pc Then when you install something - you run the app again and it will show you all the new files and where they are located I think you can do the same thing with the registry.
Just keep in mind that one little file that is missing and or out of place can keep this whole thing from working and you could spends MONTHS trying to figure it out. August 24th, , PM 3. The suggestion is, get off XP. If your own in-house app no longer works on your ancient OS, then what more reason could you possibly need? He shares the same name as the Chair of the Information Technology department at the college i went to Could also use something like Citrix Xenapp running on a server with IE9 or above on it, and run it that way, but I think the licensing cost would be prohibitive.
But that really is more fixing the problem on the wrong end. I have successfully installed Chrome on Win IE:8 is the best you can run on XP but you need to make sure you have SP3 installed as some websites wont work with secure logins on SP2. The move makes Microsoft the first major browser developer to drop support for XP, the world's most popular operating system, in a future release. Although Microsoft excluded Windows XP from the list for the IE9 developer preview, it sidestepped the question about which versions of Windows the final browser would support.
That caused some users to demand a straight answer. Really, enough is enough of keeping users in the lurch about Windows XP support. Tuesday, a company spokeswoman said the new browser needs a "modern operating system," a phrase that hasn't been paired with Window XP for years.
