John Portman's huge redevelopment project is still a vibrant district near the bay. It has offices, retail stores, restaurants and a theater.

And there are a few good restaurants. The design is classic 70s urban renewal, a nice harmonious collection of a hotel and some office buildings that look like books in a library. Good design. Probably a nice building complex to work in. Parking underneath, but it's not cheap. This complex was built in the 70s, but it's held up as a pretty nice place to hang out. Don't drive, take BART. The third floor Promenade is a nice walk, but only if you're good with a lot of steps.
